What Makes Gait Vest Special?
I was looking for a way to lift my Mom, without hurting my back or putting her safety in jeopardy. I made my first vest because my Mom, Barbara, was very frail. Her form of exercise was to swim... it ruined rotator cuffs on both sides! Arthitis gnarled her hands so you could barely touch her. Both of these ailments made it so painful for Mom to be moved. I initially put a gait-belt over a vest and under her arms. It still hurt, but it was cushioned and spread the tension on her back, not shoulders or hands.
She told me one day "THIS IS MUCH BETTER....CAN YOU MAKE IT LOOK NICE?" And so I got started with designing a fashionable, caregiver lift vest for my sweet Mom. I had leather prints, bright rainbow colors, Irish Green ones.....you name it.
After she put on her Gait Vest, she could be moved around, put in the car, sat at the dining table and the Gait Vest always kept her warm. The Gait Vest allowed me to care for her in her own home! She had lost mobility and without Gait Vest, I couldn't have lifted her. As an added bonus, she was always cold so that extra layer of clothing, always keep her warm and ready to go!
It was a need that was created with Love and comfort for my Mom. We put that love into every vest we make!
